Smoke in the building yesterday afternoon caused the evacuation of an apartment building in Fort Calhoun according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Activity Summary for the weekend. The cause of that smoke was a defective motor in the HVAC system. A driver in Blair ignored the move over law and was deemed careless, during a traffic stop, it was found the 22 year old driver was drunk. Another drunk driver – a 29 year old male - was arrested during a traffic stop at County Roads p-33 and 18. Another bout of street racing – this time at County Roads p-35 and 32, with several high end racing cars. The responding deputy gave warnings. A non-responsive person in the 7600 block of County Road p-32 was revived with Narcan, Fort Calhoun Fire and Rescue transported that person to the hospital. Other arrests over the weekend for driving under suspension and drunk driving. A disturbance on Highway 75 and the Douglas County line early Saturday morning with a naked man running down the highway, in a delirious state and combative, the Douglas County deputies helped take him to the hospital. Additionally, a vehicle in a ditch at County Roads 38 and 49 was retrieved by a tow truck and the elderly women with the vehicle wanted and were given directions to Lincoln Casino.
