DEATH OF FORT CALHOUN CLERGY, SMOLDERING RAIL CAR AND TRAFFIC ACCIDENT
A 911 call at 5:03 am yesterday is on the Washington County Sheriff’s Activity Summary. That call, by Reverend Stephen Gutgsell regarding a break in at the Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church rectory in Fort Calhoun. When deputies arrived, they found the priest stabbed and the suspect, 43 year old Kierre Williams in the rectory. Gutgsell was taken to an Omaha hospital where he died, Williams is in the Washington County jail charged with homicide and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
Other matters on Sheriff Mike Robinson’s Activity Summary include a 38 year old woman was arrested for drunk driving early this morning by Washington County Deputies after a traffic stop at Highway 75 and Backbar Lane.
Additionally on that activity summary for December 8th through this morning, a coal rail car was smoldering and was handled by Kennard Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
A traffic stop at Highways 30 and 133 ends in the arrest of a 35 year old woman for drunk driving. A school bus for a visiting team was parked on mulch at Fort Calhoun, the exhaust started a small fire that was handled by Fort Calhoun Fire and Rescue. Another traffic stop, this time at Highway 30 and County Road 23 ends in the arrest of a man for speeding and driving under suspension.
A two vehicle accident with three injured parties at Highway 133 and County Road p-38 Friday afternoon is also on that report.
