HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING IN OUR AREA…


The Bridge from Violence, dedicated to helping those dealing with domestic violence is having an online silent auction starting November 27th through December 8th...The fundraiser “Festival of Hope” features items and experiences donated by supporters. the Missouri Valley Tree Lighting is Friday, December 6th, 6pm at Crossroad Place. Santa will visit, there will be Christmas carols, treat bags, cookies and Hot cider and hot Cocoa. That event is organized by the Mo Valley Chamber of Commerce.


Habitat for Humanity and Blair’s Memorial Community Hospital are hosting a lunch and learn for those wanting to find out about home ownership for those families that make between fifteen and 29 dollars per hour – homes in West Valley in Blair. The free lunch and learn is Thursday, December 5th from noon til 1pm at the Sievers Conference Room. You can register by calling Coartney at 402-426-1464.


Fort Calhoun’s Catholic and Presbyterian Churches are working together to help provide Christmas presents for local families in need. Jesse Trees, or Angel trees are set up at both churches, the Conoco station and the Longhorn with tags with the information for gifts. The deadline to help is November 30th.


The Tekamah Lion’s Club is having a catfish and chicken feed Wednesday, November 27th – the night before Thanksgiving, from 6 to 8pm, dine in or take out. Tickets are 15 dollars and the event is at the Tekamah VFW building.


Volunteers and donations are needed for the Annual Washington County Community Thanksgiving at Saint Francis Borgia Catholic Church. It’s Thursday, November 28th from 11am to 2pm. Sign up details can be found on the Washington County Community Thanksgiving Dinner Facebook page.


The Joseph’s Coat’s annual Christmas for the Coat Drive Thru Breakfast is Wednesday, December 11th from 6:30 am til 9am, behind Joseph’s Coat at 17th and Lincoln. it’s a benefit for the Washington County Food Pantry


The Blair Public Library’s Gingerbread Contest is Tuesday, December 3rd at 4pm. Ginger Bread Kits are available now at the Circulation Desk. A parent or guardian must be present.


The Ponca Hills Kids Christmas Party is at the Ponca Hills Volunteer Fire station December 7th from 1 to 3pm, Caroling, crafts, refreshments and pictures with Santa are part of the fun. The Ponca Hills Fire Department is at 12919 Ponca Road.
