HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING IN OUR AREA…


Donations for the Blair Animal Shelter of cleaning materials, clumping cat litter, long lasting dog bones and more are being accepted at a number of locations – including Country Acres Pet resort, Blair Small Animal Clinic, Thone Animal Hospital, Bennington Animal Hospital, Good Samaritan Pet Doctor and Nannen Physical Therapy. A clothing drive to benefit the Open Door Mission is tomorrow from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Missouri Valley High School. Donations of gently used or new clothing are sought.


The Arbor Care Center of Tekamah is collecting donations for residents for Christmas, items such as socks, word game books. Hats and more. A donation box is located at the front entrance. Those donations will be accepted now through December 20th.


“Big Questions and Innovative Solutions in Land Management” - a free workshop for farm and land owners and tenants for managing or leasing land is January 9th, 1-4pm at the Nebraska Extension in Washington County – 597 Grant Street, suite 200. Refreshments will be provided by Farmers National Company. Though the event is free, registration is required – call the Nebraska Extension in Washington County – at 402-426-9455 (repeat) the deadline to register is January 8th.


The Salvation Army is in need of Bell Ringers during the holiday season at Blair’s Walmart and the Family Fare store, a sign up schedule can be found online at latecrewcreative.com  


Flu Virus activity peaks between December and February according to Three Rivers Public Health Department. Flu vaccines are available at the Three Rivers offices in Dodge County at 2400 North Lincoln Avenue, in Saunders County at 1320 31st Street in Wahoo, and in Washington County at 1762 Washington Street, Suite 205 in Blair.
