NEW BLAIR CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS SWORN IN, APPROVAL OF FIRE OFFICERS AT BLAIR CITY COUNCIL
The Blair City Council last night recognized the service of outgoing council members Brad Anderson and Jim Sandvold and administered the oath of office to the oncoming and re-elected members – Holly Hafer, Kent Long, Brent Clark and Kirk Highfill.
Approval of the new officers for the Blair Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department for two year terms – Fire Chief- Joe Leonard, First Assistant Chief – Dave Aten, Second Assistant Chief – Jake Dunn. First Fire Captain – Anthony Borders, Director of EMS – Ty Hernes and First EMS Lieutenant – Derek Paper. Also approved, administrative offices for the Blair Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department: for one year terms, President- Amie Clausen, Vice President- Ernie Brunneis, secretary – Brenda Jenny, Treasureer- Steve Howard and Sargent of Arms – Kent Nicholson.
ANNEXATION UPDATE AND NEW JOB AT CITY HALL APPROVED BY BLAIR CITY COUNCIL
The Blair City Council last night heard on the third and final reading the measure to annex properties near the former Dana Campus now owned by Easter Seals...requested by that organization so that city services can be extended to that property. The council also heard on second reading, annexation of Hollow Road properties.
Tourism Funds from the hotel tax will be used to help market the area by Gateway Development, which will contract with Red Thread Advertising.
The council also approved the creation of an Assistant city clerk position, showing that the clerk’s office, while salaried, still regularly works several hours more than the standard 40 hours per week.
