Blair City Council Summary

A proposal for a blight and substandard study of the central part of Blair, the former Dana campus area and portions of Highway 30 south of Davis Drive was approved in last night’s Blair City Council meeting. Once the study is complete and those areas declared blighted and substandard, the city is able to utilize redevelopment funds.

Assistant City Administrator Phil Green has tendered his resignation, effective at the end of this month, and will be working in a similar position near the Metro Area. City Administrator Rod Storm says an internal search for a candidate to fill that position has begun.

The Blair Police Department’s current Canine Officer will be retiring due to hip problems according to Chief Joe Lager. He says department funds and a generous benefactor have supplied most of the monies needed to acquire and train a new dog and its handler. The approval to proceed forward with training a new canine was given at last night’s Blair City Council Meeting.
