Blair Water Safe Despite Chlorine Odor
A ruptured line is responsible for the strong bleach smell in Blair’s city water. Public Works Director Al Shoemaker says a line carrying liquid ammonia at the water plant is no longer working and crews are using chlorine to disinfect the water from the Missouri River.
Though the odor is strong, Al says the water is tested weekly and it is safe for everyday use. A contractor is working on the matter and the chlorine smell should be gone within a few weeks. Until then, setting water out in an open container overnight will allow the chlorine odor to dissipate.
