That ringing bell and red kettle you see at so many area retailers – the Salvation Army – isn’t gathering as many donations as usual. Salvation Army officials say the late Thanksgiving has trimmed down the days that bell ringers are out. Down about 30 percent. The Salvation Army service unit in Washington County, uses donations made in the county for people needing help right here. Funds gathered are distributed to single parent families needing help with rent, utilities and other basics. You will find those kettles and bell ringers at Family Fare and Walmart on weekends.
